Biology Alumni Share Insights on Environmental Conversation / Animal Care at Alumni Sharing Series
The Faculty of Science successfully staged the second Alumni Sharing Series themed “Environmental Educator / Animal Carer – My Cup of Tea?” for the academic year 2017-18 on 24 March 2018. The Sharing attracted nearly 100 students, alumni and staff members.
Four Biology alumni in the field of environmental education, conservation and animal care were invited to share their real-life job experience, importance of bio-diversity and the need of conserving environment and endangered species. They were (from third of left) Mr Vincent Siu, Assistant Curator of Terrestrial Sciences and Miss Lily Cheung, Discovery and Education Manager from Ocean Park Hong Kong; Miss Celia Fung, Former Environmental Affairs Officer of Friends of Earth (HK); and Miss Silvy Pun, Former Spokperson of Shark Savers Hong Kong.
The Sharing was honoured with the presence of two Associate Deans of Science, they were Professor Chris Wong (second from right) and Dr Daniel Kwong (second from left). Moderated by Dr Sung Yik Hei (first from left) from the Department of Biology, participants showed strong interests in knowing more about the environmental conservation sector and the career prospects in this field at the Q & A session.
The Faculty of Science initiates the Alumni Sharing Series by inviting outstanding science alumni in different professions to share their career development and life experience with the younger generation. This Alumni Sharing Series was organized by the Faculty of Science and co-organized by the Department of Biology and HKBU Biology Alumni Association.
